November Celebration of Dia de los Muertos

Our congregation celebrated Dia de los Muertos and with it remembrances of friends and family who have passed.  Amid traditional decorations, copal incense and mariachi music we also learned how the holiday is celebrated in Mexico.

UU’s Celebrate United Nations Sunday with Special Guest

Bruce Knotts, Director of the Unitarian-Universalist United Nations Office, spoke on the UN Compact for Migration and Advancing Just Migration for All in a visit to our congregation sponsored by congregation member Connie Baker.

Freedom Picnic 2018

2018 found UUCOP at the home of John and Diane for our annual Freedom Picnic. Luckily the heat dialed down from the mid 90’s earlier in the week, and there was a refreshing cool breeze from Lake Michigan to complement the many delicious potluck dishes.

New altar pieces for the Chapel

UUCOP commissioned local potter David Otis to create two beautiful candle holders for the altar in the Chapel.  The left holds candles lit for sharing of Joys and Concerns and the right is for our Chalice Lighting which opens the service.

UU’s Celebrate Thanksgiving Nov. 19

A traditional part of the Petoskey Unitarian-Universalists’ celebration of Thanksgiving is participation in Guest at Your Table which provides financial support for the human rights work of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC).
