May 13 – Mothers’ Day – Contemplative Service

We celebrate mothers and mothering with a dramatic reading of the Mothers’ Day Proclamation (written by Unitarian Julia Ward Howe in 1870), followed by silent contemplation and time for sharing.  “From the bosom of the devastated earth a voice goes up.  It says ‘disarm, disarm – the sword of murder is not the balance of justice.’ ”  bp
