Haven’t we always been welcoming?
Yes, we have – but now, just in time for Pride* Month, we are officially a Welcoming UU Congregation.
“It is so delightful to learn of the breadth of work you have done to commit to becoming a Welcoming Congregation,” wrote Rev.Michael Crumpler, LGBTQ and Multicultural Programs Director for the UUA.
Our official designation was conferred in late May, after 18 months of Covid-interrupted programming that helped sensitize us to the issues that follow LGBTQ people: marginalization, disrespect, and denial of basic civil rights. As our society continues to change, we will stay informed about political action we can take on behalf of LGBTQ persons; and we will participate in social programming aimed at creating opportunities for full and joyous integration of our larger family.
