Safety pins were distributed to congregation members at our November 13th “Service of Healing and Commitment”. The wearing of a safety pin began in England as a sign of solidarity with marginalized groups. For UUCOP congregation members wearing the safety pin is not a political statement rather it is a humanitaritarian statement which joins us with others who are opposed to hate and bigotry.
